FUEL & FERTILISER CRISIS MAY 2026 - Federal Budget 2026

The Federal budget was handed down last night (12 May 2026), and it comes as no surprise Agriculture did not get any boost in funding to relieve farmers from the current crisis we are facing. Instead, the Government has chosen to cut budget to the industry with approximately $200 million will be cut over five years from agriculture, fisheries and forestry and redirected to other policy "priorities" within the portfolio. What the Budget did promise was $15 billion to fund fuel security but how that translates to supporting farmers is not defined.

Over the coming weeks NSWPGC will be working with the integrated producers to secure relief funding for all of our members through this war crisis. Although we have secured relief funding from one integrated processor, we would like to ensure all our members are receiving payments.  We will also be working toward engaging suppliers who will provide members discounts for their products.

Please reach out to NSWPGC if you have any questions regarding how we can help you.
